Planning a Beach Wedding

Some couples prefer to get far and away for their wedding proper. Should you decide to have your wedding out of the city, having the ceremonies at a beach resort is one popular alternative.

Having a beach wedding will most likely increase your wedding costs. It will also require greater planning and more effort on the part of the couple (and of the entourage and the guests) to get to the place. Still, if the couple is bent on having a “unique” wedding, then all the costs and effort should prove worthwhile.

The first aspect to look at is to choose which particular beach. White sand beaches always look cleaner and dreamier than black or gray sand-beaches It is also wise to choose a beach that is relatively easy to get to. A beach which is accessible by land may prove to be more economical than one wherein you would have to fly or ride a boat or ferry to get there.

With a beach wedding, it is likely that the festivities and celebration will last more than a day. Everyone attending the wedding will need to stay for a longer time. A period of 3 days, 2 nights, will probably be a minimum, particularly if the beach is located far away from the city. It is therefore necessary for the wedding organizers to come up with some program of activities for the guests to interact and have fun all throughout their stay. It will also be necessary for the couple to clarify whether the guests will be taking care of their own accommodation in terms of reservations and even the aspect of footing the bill.

In terms of the actual wedding ceremony, late afternoon may be your best bet as any other time of the day may prove to be too warm or too hot. If the couple and their guests are early risers, you can also consider having the wedding at dawn or at break of day. This may result in better pictures (although sunset photos will look romantic too) and will also symbolize the start of a new life together.

With a beach wedding, the couple and their guests can’t be too stiff or formal. It just won’t look apt given the location. The couple should focus on light, cool materials which are comfortable to wear and which will make it easy for them to move around and mingle with guests. They can also consider colorful outfits, say with floral prints, to match their over-all theme.

As to the food, the couple can have it set-up luau style. They can focus on grilled food, seafood, and fruits.

Activities before, during, and after the ceremony, can also capitalize on the beach theme. Guests can enjoy a bonfire, sandcastle building contests, and the like.

As for planning the music for your wedding, the couple can also choose songs which will be apt for the location. The couple can consider the Hawaiian Wedding Song, reggae, samba, or bossa nova type of music or songs with “water” or beach themes.

While a beach wedding may take more effort to organize and will also entail more expenses, paying attention to the above details will help the couple have a wedding which is “out of the usual” and which can already be the start of a great vacation or honeymoon!
